Jo Cox RIP

A young mum has just died in tragic circumstances. This is a time to come together in respect. That is really all I have to say on the subject of her appalling murder.

It does however surely make us think about ourselves, our role in the world and our contribution to this  planet in the short time we have here. What is our personal legacy, what will we leave behind us? Will our contribution have made the world a worse or better place? Will people remember us with affection of with disdain? Those of us with a faith hope to go to  a better place, those of us without, surely simply hope our legacy is one of love and respect. Jo Cox fought to make the world a better place, throughout her working life. First through her work at Oxfam and latterly as an MP. She seems to have been a very open, honest and hardworking MP. I truly hope her legacy is not that MP's become inaccessable and MP's surgeries become a thing of the past. I am sure that is the last thing Jo Cox would have wanted.

Much of Jo Cox's life was spent trying to help the victims of war. Most recently in Iraq and Syria.
I wrote this song during the Falklands conflict, to try and sum up the futility of war. I hope it is a fitting tribute this morning to Jo Cox. I put the reel together to highlight the misery conflictss the UK has been involved in have caused across the world. Today is a sombre day.

The False Dots will be appearing at The Chandos Arms in Colindale on Sunday 26th June. We will be dedicating Action Shock to Jo Cox and all of the other victims of guns and violence in the world today.
