Urgent News - Sunday 13:23 : No water in Mill Hill, NW7 due to Veolia Water

Updated 14:20 - Now on BBC website - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-12659705 - **ends

I awoke this morning to find no water pressure in our taps.

It turns out that a burst water main on the Edgware Way has taken out supplies to Mill Hill NW7.

You can check the status here :-

http://central.veoliawater.co.uk/customer-zone.aspx?tab=3

This is what it said at 1pm. The website asks for a postcode. I put my Mill Hill one in and it said that there were no reported problems. I then tried HA8  postcode (Edgware) and it said this. Seems that even though Mill Hill is affected, their  system can't deal with it. Anyway as you can see no imminent restoration of supply. Sadly nothing on Barnet Council Website at present for concerned residents or on the Edgware Times news site. Just as well you looked here

Message added 11.40 (Next update 14:30)

Our actions to close in valves on the main to restore water to properties has caused our Mill Hill booster that supplies pressure to the area to drop and cause further no waters to the NW7 area. Unfortunately we have no ETA for supplies to be restored in the Mill Hill area.

Edgware customers should now have some supply back at reduced pressure, this will be back to full pressure once the burst has been repaired..

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience through out this incident.

Message added 10:00 (Next update 12:00)

Our repair team are onsite and carrying out repairs.

Water has been diverted from other areas to restore the majority of properties affected, customers may experience reduced pressure whilst the works are carried out..

We anticipate all supplies to be restored within 2 hours.

Thank you for your patience.

If you live in the above area, and are experiencing water supply issues there is a burst on Edgware Way junction with Broadhurst Avenue.

Our technician is currently onsite investigating, Please be aware this is a very severe burst and affecting a number of properties in HA8 and NW7 areas.

Please try to refrain from calling as we are experiencing a large volume of calls.

We apologise for the inconvenience and aim to restore the supply to normal as soon as possible.

This message was added at 8.10am and will be updated at 10:00.

We are in n12 near Woodside Park and almost no water pressure here for the last several hours....

Water company website, however, reports 'no problems' in my area....

first they tried to lock you out of the town hall, now they are trying to cut off your supplies: have the lights gone out yet? I'd be worried if I were you, Rog ... but seriously - they cut off our water for a whole day last year without any warning, and it was a real lesson on how much we take the necessities of life for granted.

The whole Barnet Cabinet are spread around the edges of Mill Hill, the home of the Barnet Eye.

First they go for the water pipes, then the power cables, then they shoot out the mobile phone masts. The gas goes next. Then no grocery lorries are allowed in, and the Mill Hill Barrier goes up, with junior Conservative councillors at road-blocks, trying to curry favour with General Hillan.

Then the Tannoy starts up. "OK, Tichborne, you can come out now. Nice and slow. Put that guitar down, Tichborne, and that sound mixing box. Real steady now..."

Ah now Baarnet, i think it's more about an ageing system than Rog's fault (-:
