Morning Comrades - This is Radio Free Mill Hill - The voice of Trotskyism in NW7

Dear Comrades,

Salutations and Greetings from Comrade Rog, Leader of the Popular front for the Liberation of Mill Hill from Tory Tyranny. Local Tory Bigwig, Daniel Hope has complained that this blog has become a "hard left propoganda rag". I am pleased to announce that this is the case and forthwith we will be promoting a purely Trotskyite manifesto in line with my own personal "swivel eyed Trotskyite" beliefs. I am today launching a radical manifesto for an Independent Mill Hill in line with these beliefs. Here is my personal Trostkyite manifesto for your perusal. I will be holding the first meeting of the Popular Front for the liberation of Mill Hill at a pub locally some time soon. Here's my hard left manifesto, don't show granny or you'll scare her.

1) Immediately scrap all plans for warden cuts, as planned by Barnet Council. Retain a full warden service for all residents of sheltered housing.

2) Immediately impose a "free parking for one hour scheme" for a six month trial period in Mill Hill Broadway.

3) Immediately begin planning with a two year deadline, to ensure that there are enough council homes in Mill Hill for all families currently on the waiting list.

4) Ensure that all families in Council provided accomodation have suitable play facilities (sometimes described as gardens or communal play space) adjacent to their property.

5) Ensure that there are activities available for all teenagers in Barnet and that EVERY 14-18 year old has a full list of all such activities, to divert them from gangs/drugs/alcohol. Ensure that every child in Mill Hill is within walking distance/easy public transport access of such facilities.

6) Ensure that a council backed plan to regenerate Mill Hill Broadway is launched ASAP.

7) Ensure that Barnet Council fully funds transport for the Burnt Oak branch of Mill Hill Council of Churches Good Neighbour lunch scheme for elderly and vulnerable people (I know Burnt Oak isn't in Mill Hill, but us Trotskyites are nothing if not expansionist Internationalists).

8) Ensure protection of the Green Belt and Conservation areas is properly enforced.

There. I bet all of you are shivering in fear at this radical program. Dear Mr Hope. Please could you post your alternative hard right agenda for Mill Hill and then we can all judge which one is better.

Yours fraternally

Comrade Rog,

Leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Mill Hill

You can rely on the support of the Mill Hill Broadway Blogger for your programme. I voted for a Tory MP so that means you have the support of local Tory voters :-)

Comrade Rog,

Just wondering where the hundreds of Council houses for rent will be built in Mill Hill? Which green fields are going? Or which roads will you be targetting to buy up private homes and place social rented tenants in them? Or will you just build high rise flats as part of the Broadway 'regeneration' and house the families there?

You seemed so passionate about the need for these homes in Mill Hill yesterday, but now seem to have been dropped from your 'manifesto' today...

Dan,

Didn't you read the post yesterday. I proposed that they would be sited at the existing huge developments. In the case of Mill Hill, that would be the Barracks site. There are other Brownfield sites in Mill Hill, which are unused and well known to locals.

I guess if I said the same thing in every blog, repeating myself ad nausium, the blog would pretty soon be even more long and boring than it already is.

Where is your manifesto then> I'd have thought you'd welcome the chance to air your program.

Dan,

By the way, didn't you read point 3?

How many free houses with gardens are you going to build on those sites? What happens when people start turning up (having heard of the free housing in Mill Hill) ? Why only the people on the list now? There are thousands of people not on the list not in, 'decent' housing, as you would define it ? Where will the second tranche be built as the demand will be endless ?

Rog T please do a blog on education because Dan is a perfect example of a failing system. Dan fails both to read and understand the subject matter of yesterday and today.

Dane Hope, Education Education Education! How old were you in 1997when "Conservative" Prime Minister Blair made that Speech? It would explain a lot

3) Immediately begin planning with a two year deadline, to ensure that there are enough council homes in Mill Hill for all families currently on the waiting list.
Answer. This would be under Section 106 T&C Planning agreement. Do you what that is, were you not a councillor?

Dan Here read again:
6) Ensure that a council backed plan to regenerate Mill Hill Broadway is launched ASAP.
Answer: A Mill Hill Broadway (not Mill Hill Town&Village)behind where I lived on a road with Boot's the Chemists on the corner. The retail business community of (conservative voters) does need help with free parking.

Dan read again:
8) Ensure protection of the Green Belt and Conservation areas is properly enforced.
Answer: I would, However, it would offend Dan.

Finally Dan!
1) Immediately scrap all plans for warden cuts, as planned by Barnet Council. Retain a full warden service for all residents of sheltered housing.
Answer: lets hear the solution from Dan.

The Conservative Party needs a PR man like Prime Minister Master Dan Harold Laski Hope. Some hope?

This document by Jesse Norman ( the rising star of the Conservative Party ) sets out the direction that David Cameron's Conservative Party is going hand in hand with the Lib Dems.

Jesse is a fantastic family man and writer. This approach if adopted by Barnet Conservatives would find resonance in Roger's views.

We should all be in this co-alition. Our area - our families - our neighbours - we all need compassion not political point scoring.

Still a beautiful day in Mill Hill. Check out my blog for daily news about Mill Hill Broadway.

Dan,

Strange as it may seem, people have to pay rent on Council Houses. Strange as it may seem, I'm not proposing that the only new council houses in London are in Mill Hill. I just used Mill Hill as an example as it's where I live.

The Comrade has taken a Deviationist line on parking in Mill Hill. What are the criterion of success for his free parking experiment?

Will shops report they have had more customers? Will more cars been used on the roads in Mill Hill? Will congestion have increased, as a result?

Wouldn't the shopping areas be more attractive places to visit, and chill out in cafes, if road traffic didn't dominate the area? There is plenty of UK and international evidence that business turnover can go up if people (and cyclists) are redesigned back into town centres, by reducing the overwhelming dominance of the car.

(That is not to acknowledge that disability, and the need to pick up large goods, should be catered for.)

Baarnet,

My criteria would be an increase in customers for businesses in Mill Hill Broadway. This would hopefully lead to a better quality of shops as businesses find opening in Mill Hill to be an attractive option. As more people would then shop locally, people would not have to travel to places such as Brent Cross every time they wanted to buy their children shoes, etc.

In a perfect world, it would be great to ban cars from Mill Hill, make it pedestrianised with street stalls and other such things for local people. As that isn't going to happen any time soon, I'd settle for an improvement in the quality of shops.

When I was a kid my mum bought my shoes at Freeman, Hardy and Willis in Mill Hill. That isn't an option any more. That is why we all go to Brent Cross.

Much as I agree with your sentements, we have to be practical

Comrade Tichborne: welcome back to the correct way of thinking, after your recent lapse into decadent and dangerous bourgeois revisionism. Please point out to enemy of the working classes Daniel Hope that his capitalist analysis of the effects of an improved housing policy in Barnet is fatally flawed. As there will always be a limited, even if increased, number of council homes in Barnet, the points system will ensure that only those in the greatest need can be accommodated, and those who may apply who are not in genuine need present no threat as they will never reach the top of the waiting list.

Dear Mrs Angry,

I suspect that any attempts to explain such issues to Dan would ultimatly be a waste of time. I asked him for his alternative manifesto and he hasn't got one.

I'm by trade an engineer. My philosophy on anything is that if it's broken, you mend it and if it's working you improve it.

The sad truth is that the Tory party is dominated by bankers, accountants and marketing men. They have no vision and no concept of fixing things and improving things.

If you look at our history, we are a nation of innovators. Sadly the Tories are the party of stagnation. They believe in business only as a means to make a pot of dosh. That's why the economy is F***D. We need to get people of the ilk of Wren, Brunel, Frank Whittle to have a say. People who have a passion for their job and want to make the world a better place. The Great left Britain when accountants started to get paid more than engineers
